Maratona delle Dolomiti A Unique Granfondo Event

Maratona delle Dolomiti: A Unique Granfondo Event

Join the Maratona delle Dolomiti, a unique Granfondo event, as 8,000 cycling enthusiasts gear up for an unforgettable experience amidst the stunning Dolomite mountains.

The Maratona delle Dolomiti, one of the most prestigious cycling events, is all set to take place amidst great anticipation.

The former national cycling coach, Paolo Bettini, expressed his excitement about the event during a recent talk at the launch of the new digital platform called “Il Ciclista” by Gazzetta, a renowned sports publication.

Approximately 8,000 cycling enthusiasts will be participating in the event.

The Calm Before the Storm

As the Maratona delle Dolomiti approached, a sense of calm existed before the storm.

It was the kind of storm that brought immense joy and unique emotions.

The day before the marathon, the weather remained cloudy with occasional rain showers, creating an atmosphere of anticipation.

As customary, thousands of cyclists took to the streets in the morning for a warm-up ride.

A long line formed at the top of the Campolongo Pass, where cyclists worldwide gathered, smiling, taking photos, and sharing their thoughts on the upcoming Sunday marathon.

Talks and Excitement

In the early afternoon, Gazzetta took center stage again, hosting the last of the three talks that accompanied the official launch of “Il Ciclista,” a new digital platform dedicated to amateur cyclists and bike enthusiasts. Paolo Bettini, Tania Cagnotto, and Jury Chechi graced the stage at the San Leonardo village.

They discussed various topics related to cycling attire while delving into the broader aspects of sports and cycling.

A Unique Granfondo Experience

Paolo Bettini perfectly captured the essence of the Maratona delle Dolomiti by emphasizing its uniqueness.

He said, “After I stopped competing, I participated in Granfondo events worldwide, but this one is special because it offers an experience beyond mere athletic performance. Some people aim for great speed and strive for their best time, but for many, it is an experience that transcends pedaling.”

Jury Chechi echoed the sentiment: “The Maratona had taught me to be less obsessive and perfectionist than I used to be when I was a professional athlete. When I ride here, I relax and enjoy the unparalleled setting.”

Six Hours of Live Coverage

Following the talks, the customary press conference featured the ever-enthusiastic Michil Costa, affectionately known as the “Maratona Ambassador,” who highlighted the theme of “humanity” for this year’s event.

He said, “When cyclists and mountains come together, great things happen. We must be careful not to lose our humanity in the process, so we need to learn to serve others.”

The event showcased several charitable initiatives, including new projects in Africa and Afghanistan.

The magnitude of the Maratona is also evident in the efforts of Rai, the Italian national broadcaster, which will provide live coverage starting at 6 a.m. and concluding afternoon.

When many 8,000 participants have completed their race and received the special wooden tremolo medal, the broadcast will capture the event’s spirit.

In conclusion, the Maratona delle Dolomiti is not just a race but a unique experience that brings together cycling enthusiasts worldwide.

The event symbolizes the union of athleticism, camaraderie, and the breathtaking beauty of the Dolomites.

With its charitable endeavors and extensive media coverage, the Maratona continues to captivate participants and spectators alike, leaving an indelible mark on the cycling world.
