Ahmed Alid, a Morocco-born individual who spent years drifting across Europe, has been convicted of murder and attempted murder in the UK, culminating a decade-long journey marked by strife and legal troubles.
Born in Fez and raised in Algeria, Alid’s life took a precarious turn following alleged harassment by intelligence services over his business activities, pushing him to leave North Africa in 2007.
After arriving in Spain, Alid wandered through various European countries, including France, Italy, Germany, Greece, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, and Austria, seeking asylum but never finding a permanent refuge.
His transient life included a brief imprisonment in Germany for entering without proper documentation and a failed attempt to marry due to lost papers.
In late 2020, Alid’s journey led him to Middlesbrough, UK, via ferry from Amsterdam.

His distress manifested tragically when he attacked Javed Nouri, a fellow asylum seeker, and then fatally stabbed 70-year-old Terence Carney, an innocent passer-by whom Alid later expressed deep regret for harming.
During his trial at Teesside Crown Court, Alid spoke of his motivations, citing his outrage over the Gaza situation.
He chillingly admitted that his violent spree could have been deadlier had he not injured himself in the process.
His housemates recalled Alid’s unsettling behavior leading up to the incident, particularly his reactions to news of violence in the Middle East, which left them deeply concerned.
