Alison Hammond Requests Camera Off Amid Hay Fever Episode on This Morning

Alison Hammond, the beloved host of This Morning, was embarrassed on Friday’s show when she asked the crew to take the camera off her.

The lively presenter from Birmingham, aged 48, was co-hosting the program with Dermot O’Leary, 50, amidst Phillip Schofield’s surprising resignation.

Alison, who has been receiving praise for her presenting skills, was struck by a bout of hay fever during the live broadcast.

After hastily reapplying her makeup on air, she apologized, saying, “Sorry, can I get a tissue? I have suddenly developed a terrible case of hay fever.”

As Dermot handed her a tissue, Alison made a request, saying, “I am sorry, I just need to blow my nose. Please do not put the camera on me for a moment. Thank you.”

Collecting herself, the mother-of-one confessed, “It is so embarrassing.” Dermot quickly reassured her, saying, “You look good, Bubba. Are you ready? You are amazing.”

Alison mentioned her struggles with hay fever in March when she told Dermot that she woke up feeling “different” and then shared with the viewers, “You know, hay fever, with runny eyes and a stuffy nose, I do not feel too well.”

Despite her allergy troubles, Alison has impressed the bosses at ITV as she takes on a more permanent role on This Morning in the wake of the Phillip Schofield controversy.

The former presenter left the show he loved in May and later admitted to an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a young runner.

Following his admission, Alison was visibly emotional on the set as she confessed that she still loved her former colleague, even though she acknowledged that he had made a mistake.

Alison is reportedly at the top of ITV’s list as they seek to secure her services for a range of new game show projects, hoping to keep her exclusively on their channel.

Sources have confirmed that network executives are exploring other light entertainment options for the popular 48-year-old, away from the This Morning sofa.

“They said: ‘She is incredibly popular and is perceived as very honest – which is worth a lot following Phillip’s admission that he lied to everyone,'” shared an insider.

Earlier this year, Alison was announced as Matt Lucas’ replacement on The Great British Bake Off.

She will co-host the Channel 4 show alongside Noel Fielding, known for his role in The Mighty Boosh, after the departure of Little Britain star Matt Lucas.

Despite The Great British Bake Off being aired on Channel 4 rather than ITV, a source revealed, “While Bake Off is a factual program, ITV does not want to see Alison working on entertainment formats with any other channel.”
