Gibraltar Aims to Boost Conference and Corporate Events Tourism

Gibraltar aims to boost conference and corporate events tourism through its participation in the Meetings Show. Discover its unique offerings and potential as a sought-after destination for business gatherings.

Gibraltar -Gibraltar is trying to attract more conferences and corporate events.

The Gibraltar Tourist Board (GTB) recently participated in the Meetings Show held in London, showcasing the unique offerings of the British Overseas Territory.

The Meetings Show, which took place on June 19-20 at the Exhibition Centre in East London, brought together around 1,500 meeting and event planners who presented their products and services.

This annual event has been a gathering point for event professionals since its inception in 2013.

Leading the GTB delegation was CEO Kevin Bossino, accompanied by Tracey Poggio, the GTB’s UK Head of Media and Marketing.

They aimed to highlight Gibraltar’s potential as an excellent destination for conferences and business meetings.

Bossino emphasized that Gibraltar’s advantage lies in its use of the English language and its abundant sunshine, with approximately 300 sunny days each year.

According to Bossino, Gibraltar offers plenty of interesting team-building opportunities, making it an ideal choice for smaller groups attending these events.

Minister for Business and Tourism, Vijay Daryanani, expressed his team’s proactive approach to exploring this market but acknowledged that gaining people’s trust may take time.

“The niche and boutique space present excellent opportunities for Gibraltar,” Minister Daryanani said.

“Building a reputation in this sector is a gradual process, but we have already begun our work towards establishing Gibraltar as an important player in this industry.”

Gibraltar attracts millions of visitors annually, but most come for day visits through the frontier.

However, the Gibraltar International Airport offers approximately three daily flights to and from the UK, providing convenient access for conference attendees.

The GTB’s participation in the Meetings Show has raised hopes for increased interest and growth in Gibraltar’s conference and corporate events tourism.

With its unique attributes and ongoing efforts to develop this sector, Gibraltar strives to become a sought-after destination for such gatherings in the coming years.
