Sweden Denies Recognition of Sex as a Sport and Rejects European Sex Championship Application

Sweden has refuted claims on social media and international news outlets, stating that the country has officially declared sex as a sport and will host the first “European Sex Championship.”

Despite the existence of an unofficial organization called the “Swedish Federation of Sex” that promotes such an event, Sweden’s national sports body has denied its membership application.

False Claims Gain Traction

On June 4, 2023, numerous social media posts and news outlets propagated false information suggesting that Sweden had officially recognized sex as a sport and would host the European Sex Championship.

The story was widely shared, especially by media outlets from countries like India and Nigeria.

Inaccurate Details

For instance, @thetatvaindia posted that the “highly anticipated European Sex Championship” would take place on June 8, 2023, under the guidance of the Swedish Sex Federation.

The post mentioned participants engaging in sex sessions lasting up to six hours daily, with solo matches lasting at least 40-45 minutes.

It claimed participants would compete in categories like foreplay, oral sex, penetration, and erogenous zone knowledge.

The competition would be judged based on factors like communication skills, endurance, chemistry, and knowledge about sex.

Debunking the Claims

Contrary to these claims, Sweden has not declared sex as a sport.

In April 2023, the Swedish newspaper Göteborgs-Posten debunked the rumors by revealing that the Swedish Sports Confederation (RF) had rejected the Swedish Sex Federation’s membership application.

The federation’s chairman, Dragan Bratych, who also operates strip clubs, applied to classify sex as a sport.

However, it failed to meet the requirements set by the RF.

RF’s Rejection and Statement

Björn Eriksson, the chairperson of the RF, confirmed the rejection and stated that the application did not fulfill their criteria.

He hoped the misinformation would dissipate, reiterating that it was unanimously rejected.

The RF’s official news release in April clarified that the rejection resulted from an incomplete application, and the federation was instructed to address the deficiencies.

However, they failed to comply, rendering the application ineligible for substantive examination.

RF Denies Membership and Dismisses False Claims

When contacted for a statement, the RF vehemently denied the false information circulating in the international media regarding Sweden and Swedish sports.

The sports body emphasized that there was no Sex Federation affiliated with the Swedish Sports Confederation, refuting any claims suggesting otherwise.

It asserted that disseminating false information aimed to tarnish Sweden’s sports reputation.

Independent Event Possible

While it is conceivable that an independent sex competition may take place, it would occur separately from Sweden’s official sports federation, devoid of any membership or recognition.

website allegedly linked to the Federation of Sex in Sweden claims the event will be live-streamed on June 8, 2023.

Conclusion

Sweden has categorically denied the rumors that sex has been recognized as a sport.

The Swedish Sports Confederation rejected the application for membership from the Swedish Federation of Sex due to an incomplete submission.

Any claims suggesting the contrary are false, and promoting a European Sex Championship remains an independent endeavor unrelated to official Swedish sports associations.
